Wharton residents are being invited to join forces with police and partner agencies on Thursday November 12 for the latest Community Action Meeting.

The local Neighbourhood policing team for the area and representatives from Weaver Vale Housing Trust and the local parish council will be at the meeting to help shape the future of policing in the community.

Residents are being invited to attend the meeting at the Community Centre on Bradbury Road to find out what police and partners are currently working on in the area and offer suggestions on what they think should be made a priority.

PCSO Phillip Hambleton of the Wharton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Anti-social behaviour and speeding were selected as high priorities at the last meeting back in May. Since then we've been working hard to address those concerns.

"The meeting on Thursday November 12 will give people an opportunity to let us know if they feel our work has been effective. They can also tell us where they want to go from here. Is there a new problem affecting their quality of life in the community?"

During the meeting, which starts at 7.30pm, residents will get the chance to talk about any current concerns before deciding on a priority area which police and partner agencies will aim to tackle.

PCSO Hambleton said: "It's really important for lots of different agencies and members of a community to get involved in the Community Action Meeting process. This is because there are often times when an issue which isn't a police matter is brought up."

"Similarly, there are times when different agencies can bring different skills to the table when it comes to solving a problem. It makes sense for everyone to work together so whenever a problem is highlighted, the people equipped to fix it are in place to help."
