Wharton residents are being invited to join forces with police and partner agencies on Tuesday 16th February 2010 when the latest Community Action Meeting takes place.

Local Police Community Support Officer Phil Hambleton has issued invites to partner agencies including Weaver Vale Housing Trust, which provides funding for his role, and the local parish council.

He is also spreading the word among members of the public so they too can get involved in selecting a priority issue for agencies to tackle over the coming weeks.

PCSO Hambleton said: "Speeding and Parking were selected as high priorities at the last meeting back in May. Since then we've been working hard to address those concerns.

"The meeting on February 16 will give people an opportunity to let us know if they feel our work has been effective. They can also tell us where they want to go from here or if there is a new problem affecting their quality of life in the community.€

The meeting, which starts at 7.30pm will be held at the Community Centre on Bradbury Road. During the session an update will be given on the work of the agencies in recent weeks.

People will also get the chance to talk about any current concerns before deciding on a priority area which police and partner agencies will aim to tackle.

PCSO Hambleton said: "It's really important for lots of different agencies and sectors of a community to get involved in the CAM process. This is because there are often times when an issue which isn't a police matter is identified.

To find out more about the CAM process in Wharton, contact the local officers by leaving a message on 0845 458 6391. This is a voicemail facility and all messages are regularly checked and responded to where necessary.
